The Dark Lord is beginning to gather followers who are eager for a share of his power. The closest followers of The Dark Lord have gained the name as the Death Eaters. Slowly, the wizarding world is getting progressively more dangerous and violent. As The Dark Lord's influence continues to grow, witches and wizards are being controlled by the Imperius Curse and forced to commit atrocities, including the torture and murder of Muggles. The Dark Lord capitalized on the prejudice and distrust between the giants and the Wizarding World; the giants became The Dark Lord's followers and are killing and torturing many people. No one dared to become friendly with strange witches and wizards, not knowing if they were The Dark Lord supporters. The Aurors are authorized to use drastic methods not differing greatly from the tactics used by the Death Eaters.

Meanwhile, at Hogwarts, the Marauder's are beginning their fifth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Sirius Black has ran away from home and is now living with one of his best friends, James Potter. James Potter, Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew have finally mastered animagus transformation and accompany Remus Lupin in his transformation to a werewolf underneath the violent Whomping Willow when the moon is at its fullest. The Order of the Phoenix is gathering members as the Death Eaters are recruiting rapidly. The days are foggy and dark, golden gleams of sunshine is rarely seen, even in the hottest days.

Times are getting dark, no one is out on the streets after early curfew. Shops are closing down, the shadows seem to be moving around every corner. Mysterious kidnappings are taking place here and there, the Ministry is doing everything in their power to protect the witches and wizards but failing to have an effect. As the Death Eaters rise to power and began to take over the wizarding world, Hogwarts becomes one of the few safe places in the world...
